It's a way for me to bring something urban, beautiful and interesting into people's lives and homes while reminding them of a historical moment. With a lot of my pieces you may not initially appreciate that what you are looking at is actually graffiti, and for me, that is an interesting symbolic representation of what I am trying to communicate.

Frank Michael, photojournalist and fine art photographer, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with the publication of a chapter in the book "In-Service" from the Wake Up Live the Life You Love series. The book is co-authored with a number of world-renowned writers and top professionals in their field such as Brian Tracey and Dr. Wayne Dyer.

In his work Frank strives to highlight the triumph of the human spirit. By contrasting the dynamic and creative expression of graffiti artists on the West side of the wall with the peeling and cracking paint on the East side, there is metaphor for the triumph of the human spirit over oppression and adversity. The principles of freedom, liberty and self-expression are manifest in the artwork of anonymous graffiti artists on the West side of the wall. In celebrating this historic occasion we are reminded that borders, walls and lines on maps will ultimately fail to keep the family of man apart.
