Thornberry Ltd. announces the availability of integrated wound photos in its NDoc product. While many agencies use digital cameras to capture wound photos, NDoc now offers the ability to upload multiple photos and attach to the patient record.
"As Thornberry rapidly moves towards providing a true EMR for home care and hospice, this functionality is an important component," said Tom Peth, president and co-founder of Thornberry. "Integrated wound photos are another example of the connected care we believe is crucial for home care and hospice organizations to succeed."
Already in production at Twin Tier Home Health, a division of United Health Services, this functionality has increased clinician and administrative productivity. Previously, the organization handled wound photos using a labor intense, manual process. The process required the clinician to make a specific trip to the office to deliver the camera memory stick loaded with the photos.
Today, the process is automated - saving both time and mileage. Clinicians take the photo, upload it to their laptop and import into NDoc. The photos automatically transmit during laptop synchronization, allowing system-wide access to those with appropriate security clearance. The images are attached to the patient record where they can easily be located by the agency's wound specialist. The photos also improve communication with the physician as they can be sent for physician review.
"This is truly a win-win-win situation. The patient receives better care. The clinician no longer has to run a fool's errand bringing the memory stick to the office. And the agency benefits from improved productivity and reduced mileage," said Cindy Trait, information systems coordinator at Twin Tier.
