Marysville, WA (PRWEB) August 5, 2009
On August 15th, 2009, Chaz and Sherry Lipp will hold "Mission To Rock," a benefit concert to help fund their Polish adoption. Talk radio veteran Mike Siegel ("Sound Business" on Seattle's 1300 AM KKOL) will host the concert, which features performances by three Seattle-area bands. The family friendly event begins at 6:30 PM at the Maltby Community Club in Snohomish, Washington. Tickets can be acquired, for a small donation, at http://www.missiontoadopt.com/.
In an effort to combat difficult economic conditions, Chaz and Sherry are employing creative tactics to deal with the expense of an international adoption. They even formed one of the bands, Proving Ground, themselves, with Chaz playing saxophone and Sherry on guitar. Acoustic folk trio Crown Hill Invention will perform original material. Fresh off the release of their debut album, "Please Do the Needful," Trip Audrey headlines the concert.
The benefit concert is an important event for Chaz and Sherry, who are hoping to be matched with a child within the next year. The couple has taken a grass roots approach to staging the concert. They booked the bands, designed the tickets and flyers, and created their own website to track their progress. Planning and promotion has been a full-time effort for the couple, which they hope will result in a successful and entertaining benefit show.
"Instead of asking for hand-outs, we intend to give something back to everyone who wants to help," explains Chaz.
All funds raised will be applied toward adoption fees and travel expenses. The couple must make an extended trip to Poland, lasting up to four weeks. The final tally is likely to exceed $25,000. In a slumping economy, the enormous costs can easily dissuade many people from adopting. But Chaz and Sherry are determined to realize their dream of becoming parents.
"Adopting a child from an orphanage and providing a real home for them is something I feel very strongly about," says Sherry.
"Mission To Rock" is the first of a planned series of concerts. Besides raising funds to cover adoption expenses, an event of this kind helps involve friends, family, and the community in the goal of providing an orphaned child with a family.
