Fernwood Hotel and Resort has joined with Shawnee Mountain and the Pocono Garlic Growers as one of the sponsors of the three day Pocono Pennsylvania Garlic Festival held on Labor Day Weekend, September 5 - 9 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm daily.
Gina Bertucci, spokesperson for Fernwood, said, "The Pennyslvania Garlic Festival was a very popular event last year attracting thousands of garlic lovers. It is just up the road from our resort and a great way to spend the last unofficial weekend of summer."
Fernwood Hotel and Resort packages include four tickets to the festival and accommodations in a hotel room starting from $298. Bertucci continues, "We recommend spending the day at the festival eating garlic, shopping for garlic related items, listening to music and enjoying the beauty of the Pocono Mountains. Then return to the resort to relax, take a swim or head out to the links for a round of golf. We will even let you add a third night of accommodations for half off, to extend your stay to fit it all in."
The Pennsylvania Garlic Festival showcases the region's garlic, eateries, wineries, artisans and performers. With two outdoor stages, an outdoor activity area, indoor theatre and multiple strolling acts, festival goers will enjoy a wide variety of non-stop live music and 'garlic-themed' novelty shows and family entertainment.
Headlining the musical entertainment both days will be Burning Bridget Cleary which offers a mix of Celtic and folk styles with equal parts original and traditional tunes. Jack Baker of the Irish American News named them “One of the most exciting bands I have seen in the last couple of years."
Other entertainment includes Steve Christopher with his Gardens of Wonder magic show, strolling Pie Man, the garlic cook, living statue chef and a Garlic Man stilt walker. For the younger children, Dr. Planet will perform daily using clever lyrics and songs to convey environmental subject material.
Tickets to the Festival are $7.50 in advance or $10.00 at the gate for adults, children ages 2-12 are $6.00 and $7.50. Parking is free. For Fernwood Hotel and Resort package information call 888-FERNWOOD or go to FernwoodHotel.com.
