Portal Developed by HospitalPortal.NETâ„¢ Lauded by State Associations

Crittenden Regional Hospital, West Memphis, Ark., has won the annual Diamond Award--the highest honor from the Arkansas Hospital Association (AHA) and the Arkansas Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations for its Intranet portal, which was created by HospitalPortal.NET.

HospitalPortal.NET is a leading provider of secure hospital-specific Intranet sites for electronic information sharing and information publishing.

Crittenden Regional Hospital is a 152 bed facility with 550 full-time employees. Its Intranet was named best from more than 135 submissions for the prestigious award. Crittenden previously had no Intranet before selecting HospitalPortal.NET to develop its portal in 2007.

"It's dynamic, easily changed and when I want to add anything, it's simple," said Rebecca Winter, Crittenden patient satisfaction coordinator. "It's perfect for what we do, which is to communicate with our staff."

Winter said she believes the AHA was impressed with HospitalPortal's policies and procedures module, which has saved the staff time and paper.

"Before HospitalPortal installed our Intranet, our policies and procedures were contained in 30 five-inch binders that had to be updated every year," Winter said. "Now our Intranet helped us get rid of all this paperwork so this is major for us."

Winter said that Crittenden Regional's Intranet has been especially helpful for communicating with 100 hospital employees who work off campus in clinics or home health care, and with physicians who can access their call schedules.

"We don't have to type up schedules and fax them to all our units," Winter said.

The criteria for the Diamond Award include measurable values to the hospital, a high standard of quality and cost effectiveness. In its entry, the hospital stated that HospitalPortal.NET's Intranet enabled it to reach all of its employees with "the stroke of a few keys and with the ever-changing pages, the interest level continues to grow by leaps and bounds."
