Web services now available to generate 2D barcodes from third party portals, connecting any URL to the ScanLife network via the camera phone

Scanbuy, a global leader in mobile barcode solutions, today announced that it has released multiple services that allow customers to launch integrated 2D (two-dimensional) barcode solutions. These services will make it easier for code publishers to use products from Scanbuy's complete solution; the ScanLife universal mobile barcode application and Code Management Platform.

The ScanLife web service, or API, will allow an outside website to generate codes automatically from the ScanLife Code Management Platform. This can be used by any marketer, technology provider, or media publisher to connect their digital content to commonly used 2D barcode formats like Datamatrix and EZcode. These codes will be read by the ScanLife mobile application which is distributed widely around the world via preloads and downloads. A camera phone can scan these codes from any physical media to quickly launch a specific Website, save contact information, send text messages, and more. As an example, a retailer could generate a unique 2D code for each of their products listed in an existing database.

Another option for service providers is to use the Web Development Kit which allows any website to embed the ScanLife code management platform into an existing environment. This solution is perfect for websites that want to quickly offer their customers a way to create, manage, and collect analytics from 2D barcodes. This solution also creates a white labeled version of the ScanLife integrated platform (http://www.scanlife.com). Both Business and Personal account services will be available so codes can be generated commercially, or for individuals to link to their social networking sites. These services will be used immediately by a number of providers who dynamically generate mobile relevant content.
