The Search Engine Academy of Western Canada is offering free training for up to four people who have been affected by the current recession. Two seats will be offered at each of two upcoming workshops in Vancouver (Oct 19 to 23) and Calgary (Sept 21 to 25). To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Canada and have lost their job through no fault of their own during the past year.

The Search Engine Academy of Western Canada provides basic and advanced training in online marketing through search engines. After completion of the course students can use their training to apply for employment at companies offering online marketing to clients, or start their own businesses.

"Online marketing is a growing field, even in the current economic conditions", says Muriel Archibald, co-owner and instructor at the Academy. "There is every indication that there will be continued opportunities for jobs and creation of new businesses in this field."

A recent survey of advertisers and agencies by the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO)* concluded spending on this type of marketing would continue to grow through 2009, and projected sustained growth in the long term.

Archibald's business partner, Shelly Coe, adds "it's a great way to earn a decent living from home. We've both enjoyed that freedom for years and I'm glad to be in a position to help someone else reach their goals."

Those interested should mail a brief letter explaining their circumstances. If the number of applications received exceeds available seats, a draw will be used to determine successful candidates.

In order to take full advantage of this SEO training (valued at $2,095.00 per person) applicants should have good basic computer skills and have used search engines to find information online. A basic knowledge of HTML is also required, but can be learned through free instructional primers. All necessary information will be provided to successful applicants who do not have any HTML skills.

The Search Engine Academy of Western Canada, operated by SEA West Training Inc., is part of a global network of Search Engine Academies offering training in Canada, the US, Europe and Asia. Training is offered in a classroom setting with limited enrolment.
