The Real Estate Book/RealEstateBook.com - leading publisher of printed and online real estate information in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean - awarded Todd Thorstenson of Champaign, IL the Helen Aufderheide Award for the 2009 Independent Distributor of the Year.

"Local editions of The Real Estate Book serve over 450 communities across the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean, so choosing a single market representative is tough. Based on Todd's commitment to bringing buyers and sellers together and serving the local real estate community, we felt he was a very worthy choice this year," said Todd Walker, senior vice president of sales and operations.

The Real Estate Book of Champaign-Urbana, IL has been in publication for over thirteen years and serves not only the Champaign County Board of REALTORS®, but also Mahomet, Monticello and other nearby communities.

"I began running a full page advertisement in The Real Estate Book over ten years ago. I now run five pages in the magazine monthly and place all my listings online on RealEstateBook.com and partner sites," said Brad Coats, of RE/MAX Realty Associates, one of the top single agents in the market. "I'll sell between 75 and 100 homes per year and have found my advertising package to be not only a cost-efficient source of good buyer leads, but also one of the main sources of showings for our sellers. I feel strongly that in a market with extra inventory, it really pays to stand out when the consumer is selecting an agent to represent them in one of the most important purchases they can make. During the past 10 years, Todd and I have basically grown our businesses together."

The Real Estate Book of Champaign print edition averages over 110 pages per issue, and is distributed in over 650 locations across the market. Over 1,800 properties from the area are featured on RealEstateBook.com and the site generates around 40,000 local page views online monthly.

The Champaign real estate market remains strong. As of the end of July, the number of sales increased 25% year over year and the average list price for homes in the market has remained steady at $221,517.

A 2009 member of The Real Estate Book's national Independent Distributor Council, Thorstenson has also demonstrated a major commitment to improving the brand overall. "All the markets have benefitted from Todd's leadership," Walker added. "He has been very influential in shaping the way we serve our advertisers and consumers."

Thorstenson commented, "This has always been a very rewarding business for me. I've built long-term relationships within the local real estate industry and take pride in helping bring the dream of home ownership to the community. I'm very honored to receive the award this year."
