The Sloane Clinic pioneers Ultherapy in Singapore

Ultherapy is the new lunchtime facelift using ultrasound. 30 minutes to a tighter skin, a more lifted and contoured face? This breakthrough in non-surgical facelift actually delivers all that and more.

Ulthera presents very exciting possibilities for our patients as it gives them an added weapon in the fight against aging. Most of the patients who have undergone this procedure are very happy with the facial lifting results

Ulthera is set to revolutionalize the arena of non-surgical facelift. This breakthrough device has the potential to upend the non-surgical facial rejuvenation market.

Ulthera joins the nonablative cosmetic surgery fray with a high frequency ultrasound device that enables physicians to both visualize skin layers in real time and to precisely deliver ultrasound energy to the areas they target. The ultrasound heats targeted areas to trigger new tissue production, but it does not damage the epidermis or intervening layers of skin it passes through enroute to the target. This means that Ulthera is able to target the facial skin from within without causing any downtime or redness to the surface tissue.

All skin types including dark skins can be treated. This is a boon for Asian skin types which have typically been difficult to treat as they are more prone to pigmentary problems after ablative lasers. With Ulthera, there is little risk of burning facial skin or causing pigmentary problems even in dark skin types.

The Sloane Clinic is the pioneer for Ulthera and its signature treatment Ultherapy in Singapore. It introduced Ulthera in its clinics in July 2009 and has since treated hundreds of patients with good results. In a split face treatment study conducted by the clinic, 10 patients were treated with one single treatment of Ulthera and only on one side of the face; the results were then monitored over 30 days. 80% of the patients reported significant lifting and tightening of the skin of the treated area compared to the untreated side. 20% reported moderate tightening effects.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worse possible pain imaginable and 0 being no pain, Ultherapy was rated as 5 by the patients in the study. Most patients say the treatment was comfortable and that they will do it again.

Patients noted that the skin treated with Ulthera was firmer and more lifted immediately after the session. This improvement in tone and lift of the face continued to increase over the next few weeks. There was also significant brow lift of the treated side, resulting in a refreshed appearance for the eyes. Patients with fine lines under the eyes also noted that their lines are diminished and the eyes looked more "open" and awake. As the skin tightens across the lower face, patients have also reported slimming of the lower face, resulting in a more contoured and sculptured appearance.

"Ulthera presents very exciting possibilities for our patients as it gives them an added weapon in the fight against aging. Most of the patients who have undergone this procedure are very happy with the facial lifting results," says Dr. Low Chai Ling, medical director of The Sloane Clinic ™.

Ultherapy takes 30 to 45 minutes. Most patients will need only 1 to 2 sessions for maximal skin tightening, facial contouring and brow lifting effects. Its youth-enhancement results can last from months to years depending on the individual's aftercare and lifestyle, as with all other facial rejuvenation procedures. Recommended follow-up treatments every six months to a year are dependent on individual demands. The great thing about this treatment is that there is little to no downtime; patients can return to normal activity or even wear makeup immediately after.
