14th Annual J-1/H-1B Foreign Physician Immigration Conference and Job Fair Series Kicks-Off in New York City

The 2009 J-1/H-1B Foreign Physician Immigration Conference and Job Fair Series includes events in New York on Aug. 8, Chicago on Sept. 19 and Baltimore on Oct. 24. The annual series is free and provides a unique and educational opportunity for foreign physicians, who are undertaking graduate medical training in the U.S. and residency program directors and coordinators, who manage medical training programs at teaching institutions throughout the county to learn about the complex immigration process from immigration law experts.

The Pederson Immigration Law Group, P.C. (PILG) launched the 2009 J-1/H-1B Foreign Physician Immigration Conference and Job Fair Series today at the Hilton New York in New York City, marking the beginning of the 14th annual event.

The event provided the opportunity for nearly 100 foreign physicians, residency program directors and coordinators, who manage medical training programs at teaching institutions throughout the country, to learn about the complex physician immigration process from immigration law experts. Among those experts was Jan Pederson, senior partner at PILG, who is one of the nation's foremost foreign physician immigration attorneys.

Pederson served as keynote speaker and presented several seminars on topics including finding and keeping a J-1waiver job, avoiding the H-1B cap and navigating the J-1 waiver and permanent residence options, among others.

Today's event also included a job fair hosted by employment recruiters to facilitate job opportunities for medical Residents and Fellows after completion of their training.

The 2009 conference and job fair series is co-sponsored by PILG, the American College of International Physicians and the National Consortium of Immigration Law Firms or IMMLAW and includes events Chicago on Sept. 19 and Baltimore on Oct. 24.
