A new tool for businesses and interactive agencies to analyze the accuracy and distribution of a company's identity on the Internet has been released today via a partnership between GetListed.org and UniversalBusinessListing.org. It was announced at the Search Engine Strategies Conference.

Their Local Search Analysis tool will check the presence of business listings as they are seen on major search engines and online Yellow Page directories, then highlight variances and corrections that are required.

"As these Local Search listings are becoming more important to Web search results, new tools are needed to pinpoint errors and potential improvements," said GetListed.org's David Mihm. "Local business profiles are displayed in the main search results pages if a location keyword is entered or determined by the user's internet address."

"But the fragmented nature of the Local Search space makes these seemingly basic benchmarks difficult to achieve, particularly for companies with more than a handful of locations."

It can take hours of multiple searches to properly check even one listing across several platforms, especially if you are tasked to ensure that each piece of data (address, URL, phone number, etc.) is correct on each platform (Google, Yelp, SuperPages, Yellowpages, Bing, etc.). The new tool does that job automatically.

The problem of inaccurate listings is widespread as publishers take in data from multiple sources, many of which are outdated or duplicates. The problem is particularly acute for large enterprises with hundreds or thousands of locations - where audits of listings show often 20-40% inaccuracy rates. Local Search Analysis is designed for this kind of Enterprise reporting, so companies can identify problem listings and which publishers need updating.

"Once we identify the troubled listings, UBL can provide the solution for distributing corrections or additions," said UniversalBusinessListing.org President, Chris Travers.

Local Search Analysis is available now for Agency clients and bulk files from corporations; individual online purchase of the service will be available later in the year.
