The International Association for Private Service Professionals (IAPSP) proudly presents its Inaugural Conference "The Secrets of Service," 9-11 October 2009. Executive-level domestic staff members across all disciplines of Private Service will convene at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas for the first annual educational, leadership and networking conference. The event is designed to promote strength of character, superior management skills and service expertise, a few of the essential elements for effective service delivery in the homes of high net worth employers.

Established in 2006, the IAPSP is a non-profit, member-based, trade association that provides a platform for developing professionalism and leadership skills in the delivery of peak estate service. The IAPSP works to increase confidence, competency and skill by engaging its members in leadership opportunities; providing peer-to-peer networking; and sharing service knowledge within its ranks. The IAPSP is unique in the Private Service Industry for appealing to all disciplines of Private Service. The IAPSP draws on the experience and wisdom of its membership to define and preserve the traditional core values and ethics of service excellence, while acknowledging the importance of distinctive skill-sets and embracing new trends in service technology. The IAPSP is filling a gap where little, if any, organized vocational support has previously existed.

According to David Bertnick, President of the IAPSP, the Private Service Community has witnessed a significant change in the expectations of employers who hire executive-level household staff. He explains that, "Although a wide-variety of experiences still exist for household staff, all but gone are the days when a thoughtful individual with a strong work ethic, a big heart and a reserved personality could do well in managing an estate. Today's globalized citizen of high net worth demands a staff that is more sophisticated - one with solid self-esteem, technical savvy, realistic management ideologies and literate, efficiency-focused practices. The Private Service Professional who meets these demands requires and appreciates the intrinsic value that is provided by a community of colleagues."

  •     Barry Berglund, Honorary Senior Fellow of the Center for Creative Leadership
