You need not get stuck for something to do ever again.

Since the Android version, we have made the interface even more responsive and added some nice graphical effects and we look forward to finding out what iPhone users will make of it.

lastminute.com has launched the award-winning nru application - "near you" -- on the new iPhone 3GS. This free application shows things to do near the user's location using the new built-in compass of the iPhone 3GS. From London theatre tickets to cinema and gig venues, nru will point the user in the right direction.

Wherever it is used, nru will work out the phone's exact location and even which way the handset is facing. It will then show the nearest places to go, from bars and restaurants to cinemas and cafes. As the phone is turned to face different directions, the view will change so that the user always knows which way to go.

nru gets its content from Qype, Europe's largest local search and recommendation website, and fonefood, the mobile restaurant booking service from lastminute.com.

nru on the iPhone 3GS is the latest experiment from lastminute.com labs that has launched direct to customers. It marks another step in a commitment by the company to provide on-the-go customers with the most relevant city activities and offers including last minute hotel deals.

The nru application has been available on Google Android phones such as the T-Mobile G1 since January 2009 -- at the time Android was the only platform to have a built-in compass.

The feedback was immediate and very positive and it went on to win the Mobile User Experience award at the MEX 2009 show.

The new iPhone 3GS with its added functionality has meant that the new app can be delivered to a new range of users to download the application and get the most from their free time.

Marko Balabanovic, Head of Innovation at lastminute.com, said: "When out and about, our customers don't have time to go through a long list of irrelevant venues even at lastminute.com: hotels, restaurants, and the like. They need to see at a single glance where the good stuff is. This is what we want to achieve with nru.

He added: "Since the Android version, we have made the interface even more responsive and added some nice graphical effects and we look forward to finding out what iPhone users will make of it."
