Safetytoes International Inc., manufacturer of the 'Slipp-R', has produced a video of Irish musicians and dancers wearing its steel toe overshoes. The video was filmed in Toronto using professional Celtic musicians and dancers from the Brogue Celtic Music and Dance Company
"We wanted to showcase the Slipp-R in an entertaining way" said Patrick Smyth, CEO of the shoe company. "It's obvious from the footage that the Slipp-R is very accommodating of all heel types." The approximately one minute movie shows three Irish dancers in a janitorial setting, a fairly typical industrial scenario for safety overshoes. Two of the dancers are wearing flat-soled runners while the third dancer is wearing traditional Irish dance shoes with a full heel. "We wanted to show the Slipp-R in all its glory and fitting over a pair of traditional Irish step dancing shoes certainly does that." Smyth asserts. "Irish step dancing is known for high-energy and fast moves, ask anybody who's seen Michael Flatley or Riverdance."
The Slipp-R is a purpose-designed safety overshoe with an all-flat sole. Unlike other overshoe styles with a moulded heel, the Slipp-R has no excess material underfoot when worn with flat-soled outer shoes. Safetytoes International says "the Slipp-R's thick rubber material provides for tight-fitting robust activity and our safetytoes have excellent cut and abrasion resistance making them more than just a safety shoe for visitors."

Smyth is active in promoting the use of PPE in workplaces and at home. He feels PPE should be stylish and fit properly. It's often been reported that PPE is less likely to be donned if it diminishes self image. The company doesn't claim that wearing the Slipp-R will improve your dance moves but that it does meet all the legal requirements for toe protection in most world jurisdictions.
Statistics show that there are over 2,000 toe injuries every year in Canada. "That could indicate over 2,000 workers might not have been wearing any PPE. It is this statistic that motivates us. The Slipp-R safetytoe overshoe costs many times less than regular safety footwear. It provides for the same legal toe protection as any 'CSA Approved' safety shoe. We hope the video will convince employers with safety shoe programs to consider the Slipp-R where only toe protection is required. The many features and benefits we think will have them dancing all the way to the bank!"
