Consumer myGeoDiary Service Now Available on iPhone and is Facebook-Connect Ready

Abaqus, Inc., developers of geo-social and geo-tracking applications hosted on top of a robust GeoWeb Services Platform, today announced the availability of myGeoDiary for the iPhone.

myGeoDiary application on the iPhone lets users record their GPS tracks associated with lifestyle activities such as running, biking, swimming, skiing or any other outdoor or lifestreaming activity, and then directly upload, store and share them at http://www.mygeodiary.com service on the web. Users can also upload photos which can be automatically geotagged and placed on these tracks. This application is available for branding by business customers and further solidifies Abaq.us' position as a leading provider of location-based social networking service across all positioning devices and connecting to a variety of lifestyle applications on the web.

Abaqus, Inc. today also announced that myGeoDiary users can now easily share their content and activity with their entire Facebook community.

myGeoDiary on iPhone
myGeoDiary Recorder is an iPhone application that lets users record personal GPS tracks and performance data while running, cycling, hiking or skiing or participating in any outdoor activity. Using this application users can record the specific tracks, waypoints & pictures, upload them to the http://www.myGeoDiary.com website, automatically plot their content on a map, personalize their tracks with rich media content and compare their performance from track to track, day to day and more.

myGeoDiary on iPhone is available for free, until Aug. 16, from Apple's App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at http://www.itunes.com/appstore/ under the "Travel" category.
The application uses the on-board location-aware capabilities of the iPhone 3G and 3GS, which accurately and continuously records a users' location.

Abaqus Inc. had previously announced support for Smartphones such as RIM BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Android as well as personal navigation devices and data loggers.

Facebook Connect for myGeoDiary
With Facebook Connect, myGeoDiary now enables users to log into myGeoDiary using their Facebook credentials (name / password), share their content and activity with their friends on Facebook (by publishing myGeoDiary track links) and maintain similarities in their profile information between myGeoDiary and Facebook.

myGeoDiary is adding the following Facebook connect features:

  • Identity: A user can Login to myGeoDiary using their Facebook credentials
  • Profile: A user's name, photos, and more are now consistent with their profile on Facebook

In the near future, Abaq.us will further enhance myGeoDiary by extending its Facebook integration to include:

  • Friends: myGeoDiary users will be able to easily invite their Facebook friends to share their geodiary content and activity.
  • Applications: User's activities on myGeoDiary will integrate with all of the integration points within Facebook, like Facebook widget application, stream stories and notifications.
