The days of touring artists needing big companies and big promotional budgets to reach a fan base are numbered

Bandsintown today unveiled the new version of Bandsintown.com, an online social destination for discovering and experiencing local live music. Highly interactive, the new site enables fans to track favorite artists, local venues, see the concert activities of their friends, and create a personal event archive. Users can receive recommendations and alerts, purchase tickets for shows of all sizes in a single click, and even watch a live concert activity stream for events they are unable to attend in person.

"The days of touring artists needing big companies and big promotional budgets to reach a fan base are numbered," said Bandsintown CEO, Todd Cronin. "Bandsintown exposes local bands to live music fans, by analyzing the music they listen to, and then recommending local shows based on location and musical preference."

Bandsintown adds new and upcoming concerts to their database in real time, enabling users to compare ticket prices, and immediately find tickets when a primary ticketing provider sells out. Aggregating tickets and concert information from more than 60 different ticketing providers in over 140 countries makes Bandsintown's database the most comprehensive of its kind, and ensures that users will be able to find ticket and concert information no matter how small the venue or obscure the band.

The re-launch of the Bandsintown destination site follows the release of the Bandsintown iPhone app, the first of its kind to scan the user's iTunes music library and use the phone's GPS to recommend concerts. Fans can search for and track specific artists, local venues, and receive recommendations for similar shows based on their musical preferences.
