The "B.U.M.P." (Bumper Utility Mechanical Poles) would enable the driver to determine the exact position of the front of the truck without having to get out of the cab. The invention could serve as a reference guide to eliminate guesswork when trying to maneuver the truck, and could enhance the driver's ability to navigate the truck through tight spaces. Designed to reduce the incidence of accidents, the B.U.M.P. would remain virtually out of view when not in use.
The invention would consist of retractable guide poles that attach to the front bumper of a semi-truck. Each unit would consist of an antenna-like pole and housing. The pole would be telescopic, featuring a yellow light positioned on top to aid nighttime driving. To use, the driver would push a remote control switch similar to a garage door opener. The poles would extend out of the housing so that they would be in the driver's view. The B.U.M.P. could be produced for both square bumpers and round bumpers. According to the inventor, the poles could also be mounted on one or both sides of the truck.
