Gaia Online's Camp Chaos Puts the Amp Back in Camp

During a week-long online event teens and young adults battle opposing camps with pranks, sass and atomic wedgies

Let's face it, summer camp isn't complete without crushes, capture the flag, and kumbayas around the campfire. But this year, Gaia Online, the world's most active online community of more than eight million users, is kicking camp up a notch with Camp Chaos, a week-long summer event where members of four separate camps battle each other and their camp counselors in search of ultimate bragging rights, world domination, and extra cookies and milk before lights-out.

To kick off Camp Chaos, Gaians can choose the camp they'd like to hang with - whether it's attempting cardio kicks with the jocks at Fitness camp, dolling out wedgies with the bullies at Juvie Camp, creating model rockets with the brains at Science Camp, or counting money with the upper crust at Rich Kids Camp - there is plenty of mischief to go around.

Each camp will engage in a ruthless war of pranks against the other camps in an effort to gain experience. Once campers gain enough experience from carrying out their pranks on each other, it's on to tackle camp staff members including the janitor and safety monitor. Ultimately, users will come face-to-face with the four camp counselors in charge. Campers have access to their own bag of tricks, but must proceed with caution since the staff and counselors are prepared to defend against the attacks - even those as dangerous as the Rich Kid's Abercrombie and Fists and the Science Camper's static electricity assaults. Players can score a variety of limited-edition virtual items depending on their contribution to the takedown of the four main counselors.

"Gaia Online's users look forward to the annual summer event all year long, and this year we've really gone all out with over-the-top pranks, wacky features, and creative game-play," says Craig Sherman, CEO, Gaia Online. "This is a one-of-kind event that will give our users a chance to live out their ultimate camp experience, where mischievous behavior is not frowned upon but encouraged."

A long day of food fights, profuse sweating and rhythmic jiggling can really wear a camper out. Players can take a break to re-energize, socialize, strategize or spy on other camps at the beach, where each camp posse has its own unique hangout area. A virtual item received at the start of the event will give players an all access pass to cool down. And the best part is, even when Camp Chaos is over, Gaia Online users can visit the beach all summer long.
