Leading LGBT tennis group celebrates seventeenth (17th) year supporting worthy local and regional organizations that improve lives.

The organizers of the Capital Tennis Association (CTA) announced today a broad list of participants in its upcoming Capital Classic to be held at Rock Creek Tennis Center. The group also announced the continuation and agreement for real estate company Brandon Green as principal sponsor support through 2011.

"We are so happy to be working with Brandon and his team again this year and to work with them in the future. We would not have been as successful in organizing and running the Cap Classic and in fundraising for worthy community organizations in the past without the support of Brandon and his team. We know that this year's tournament will be a great success, in large part due to Brandon's commitment to the tournament and to benefitting our community," said Charlie Gorham, CTA President.

The Capital Classic is an annual tennis tournament sponsored by Capital Tennis Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to coordinating and promoting tennis in the Washington D.C. LGBT community ( This year is the seventeenth year for the Capital Classic, which has become an increasingly popular stop on the GLTA (Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance) Tour. This year, we anticipate having approximately 185 participants from around the world.

The annual proceeds from the Capital Classic are donated to a local charity or charities. Since the tournament's inception, Capital Tennis Association has donated over $100,000 to charity. Last year, the tournament raised approximately $20,000 for the Washington AIDS Partnership and approximately $5,000 to fund AIDS research at George Mason University. This year, we hope to raise a similar amount to benefit SMYAL (Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League), a Washington, D.C. based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ youth.

"This yearly event provides me and my real estate team an outstanding opportunity to actively give back to various, local charities and worthwhile organizations. We are proud to support not only an active lifestyle, but a vibrant community outreach initiative that's good for Washington. All of us at Brandon Green look forward to continuing to do our part for the metro DC community by supporting this and other worthwhile charitable causes - it's simply part of our community commitment," said principal sponsor Brandon Green, Founder and President of the Brandon Green Companies.
