Northern Virginia (PRWEB) August 18, 2009
The Children's Science Center, a non-profit organization working to develop a children's science museum in Northern Virginia that would provide an interactive exploration center that incorporates traditional museum exhibits with cutting edge discovery experiences for children, their families and educators, announced today that current Board Chair, Brenda Hyde, publisher of FAMILY Magazine, will be stepping down. Leo Rydzewski will become the new Chair.
Since Ms. Hyde assumed the position of Board Chair, the Children's Science Center has increased its awareness in the community, built a web site with science activities for parents and children, developed a list of hundreds of interested parents, presented the Children's Science Center to the community through numerous "museum without walls" events and presentations, developed a regular newsletter with information and activities for children, expanded the Board of Directors to include 18 members, worked to create a vision for the size and scope of the Children's Science Center through a design charette and narrowed the search for an appropriate physical location. FAMILY Magazine has presented activity articles written by Children's Science Center volunteers to the community inside the popular, regional magazine each month.
Mr. Rydzewski takes over the helm of the Children's Science Center as the group continues to focus its efforts on sparking children's interest in science through interactive exhibits and engaging programs that encourage exploration of science and technology, stimulate creativity, and inspire through active learning. Mr. Rydzewski is a partner at Holland & Knight LLP, where he specializes his practice in the area of complex commercial litigation, including class actions.
