Columbia, MO (PRWEB) August 19, 2009
Inc. Magazine today named Plus1 Marketing No. 226 on its 28th annual Inc. 500, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.
Companies such as Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit, GoDaddy, Under Armour, Jamba Juice, American Apparel, Oracle, and hundreds of other powerhouses gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500.
"If you want to know which companies are going to change the world, look at the Inc. 500," said Inc. editor Jane Berentson. "These are the most dynamic, fast-growth companies in the nation, the ones finding innovative solutions to problems, creating smart systems and inventing products we soon discover we can't live without."
Founded in 2002, Plus1 Marketing specializes in search engine marketing, conversion-rate optimization and pay-per-click services. The company has grown rapidly into an industry leader, creating social media and viral campaigns that have reached more than 2 million people.
Revenue for the Columbia-based online marking firm has risen 928 percent over the last three years, and company officials expect 2009 totals to top $3.2 million.
Plus1 Marketing employs nine full-time workers.
"The whole idea behind Plus1 is to improve each day, and that commitment and expertise culminates in an award like this," said Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel Broughton. "Our core group at Plus1 is one of the best online marketing teams in the country. We challenge ourselves to compete in tough niches online."
The team at Plus1 boasts some of the world's top online marketers. In fact, the core principals at Plus1 Marketing previously spurred Inc. 500 finishes for two other companies - ShowMe Tickets (2005) and Mortgage Research Center (2007).
Mortgage Research Center was named No. 780 on this year's Inc. 5,000.
"We're proud to make the list solely as Plus1 Marketing this year," Broughton said. "It's a testament to the high-level campaigns we've been grooming for years."
Plus1's online marketing campaigns have gained national attention, attracting coverage from outlets such as CNN and Glenn Beck's national talk show. Company officials routinely speak at online marketing conferences and publish highly read industry blogs. The president of Plus1 served as a mentor for the Clinton Foundation's Urban Enterprise Initiative to help small companies in inner cities achieve success.
The company has also invested heavily in the community. Plus1 Marketing actively looks for investment opportunities through angel investment and local networks, investing money and marketing expertise in exchange for equity.
Plus1 team members also guest-teach courses at the University of Missouri and provide opportunities for internships and capstone projects.
"There's no question that online marketing, and in particular search marketing, are increasingly valuable to building a business," Broughton said. "Our industry is still in its infancy."
