Dorrance Publishing Takes a Stand in Making a Difference, Company Rebates 5 Percent of Sales for Charities

By turning over a percentage of its book sales as a rebate to charities, Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. is putting into action the guidance offered more than a century ago by American psychologist and philosopher William James: " Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." Dorrance, along with more than 1500 other stores, companies and vendors, is participating in a program to support non-profits called Click Shop Support owned and operated by Fundraising Solutions.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) August 19, 2009 -- By turning over a percentage of its book sales as a rebate to charities, Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. is putting into action the guidance offered more than a century ago by American psychologist and philosopher William James: "Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." Dorrance, along with more than 1500 other stores, companies and vendors, is participating in a program to support non-profits called Click Shop Support owned and operated by Fundraising Solutions.

Click Shop Support is an online shopping destination with the specific purpose of making a difference by providing financial support for non-profits in six major groupings: animals, arts, education, health, humanity, and the planet. Currently more than 1500 non-profits are the beneficiaries of rebates paid from goods and services purchased on Click Shop Support when the purchaser designates their charity as the one to receive the support. Shoppers pay no more than if they went to the store direct. In addition to Dorrance, retail participants include such companies as Macy's, Amazon.com, Dell, Gap, Travelocity, Drugstore.com, and hundreds more.

Some of the worthy causes that benefit from the largess provided by the site and its partners are well know, such as the Humane Society of New York, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Duke University, and the American Red Cross. Others, less well known perhaps, do equally important work - Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and Virginia Beach SPCA for example.

Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. has been the premier provided in this country of author services for almost ninety years. Through its various imprints, it offers subsidy-publishing services, self-publishing, and print on demand. Both hardbound and paperback books in all genres are available through their bookstores. The company publishes over 1000 new titles a year written by authors from a variety of countries, backgrounds and experiences, including award-winning authors.

For more information on purchasing books or other items on Click Shop Support, go to www.clickshopsupport.org. For more information on Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. go to www.dorrancepublishing.com or call 1-800-695-9599. You may also visit the company's blog at www.authorsadvocate.net.
