Lawson Software announces a recent customer win for its Public Sector business unit. This new customer is the Cherry Creek School District in Colorado. Cherry Creek will use the new Lawson apps to help improve business processes and contain costs.

Our current systems are outdated, inefficient and increasingly difficult to maintain

Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that Cherry Creek School District No. 5 has signed a multi-suite contract that includes the Lawson S3 Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management suites as well as the Lawson Human Resource Management suite. These applications will help the school district enhance the speed and accountability of its data-driven decision making and help improve the accuracy and efficiency of its enterprise-wide activities. The contract was signed during Lawson's fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, which ended May 31, 2009.

Cherry Creek is noted as a “premier” school district in Colorado in terms of student performance. The suburban Denver district is the fourth-largest in the state with more than 50,000 students in grades K-12, and enrollment has increased by 40 percent in the past decade. Cherry Creek also has the highest rating under the Colorado Department of Education accreditation system. The Lawson applications will replace the district’s aging accounting, finance, purchasing, human resources, and payroll systems. Lawson Professional Services will work with district employees to provide implementation services for the project rollout.

The new system will help the district automate manual processes, such as budgeting, purchasing and personnel transactions. Lawson Teacher Contract Administration will help the district manage complex tracking and reporting requirements associated with teacher pay to help ensure accurate payroll, benefits, time and taxation processes tied to teacher contracts.

In addition, the Lawson Human Resource Management suite will allow Cherry Creek to drill deeper into HR data for improved analysis. And with its flexible self-service capabilities, district employees will be better equipped to manage a broad range of information and tasks themselves, from updating personal data in their personnel record and enrolling in benefits to checking on open positions and registering for needed training.

“Our current systems are outdated, inefficient and increasingly difficult to maintain,” said Lyndal Brookhart, director of Human Resources for Cherry Creek School District. “We needed an integrated system that can help us automate processes and analyze information so we can make more informed business decisions and better respond to new regulatory requirements. We also have highly complex, very specific payroll and benefits requirements. We chose Lawson because it is a proven software vendor, with a good track record of serving school districts.”

“School districts around the country are faced with tighter budgets and increasing demands from the communities they serve," said Brian Murphy, general manager, Public Sector, Lawson. "Lawson helps school systems optimize and account for scarce resources efficiently and at a lower total cost of ownership."
