Quincy, MA (PRWEB) August 19, 2009
Ten college students will be chosen to compete in a month long social media marketing challenge with the winner earning a $500 scholarship. The challengers' classroom knowledge as well as their social media influence will both be put to the test as they work to refer the most sign-ups to ScholarshipPoints.com as of midnight, September 30.
Students interested in participating must express (in 140 characters or less) why they should be chosen to compete using Twitter, the popular social networking and microblogging site. 20 students will be chosen from these "tweets" and asked to submit a one page marketing plan, of which 10 will be selected for the 1-month challenge.
"Social media marketing is a whole new ballgame and these kids get it," says Gregg Manning, Director of Internet Strategy for Edvisors Online Education and ScholarshipPoints.com. "I'm expecting some creative and innovative ideas to come out of this competition."
There are over 400,000 students participating in the ScholarshipPoints membership rewards program. As part of this free scholarship program, students earn points each month by participating in surveys and other online activities. Accrued points can be exchanged for entries into monthly scholarships and quarterly $10,000 drawings. The program is open to graduating high school students and current college students. Funds are sent directly to the student's financial aid office. Learn more at ScholarshipPoints.com
