North Carolina company moves into top 100 telecommunication firms in the United States

LBA Group, Inc. has moved higher on Inc. magazine's annual listing of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the United States.

The Greenville, N.C., telecommunications firm ranks number 2,780 on the 2009 list, which represents a jump upward from its 2007 ranking of 3,613. LBA also moved this year into the top 100 fastest-growing telecommunication firms ranked by Inc., entering the list at number 90.

"Congratulations to you and your team," said Inc. magazine editor Jane Berentson in notifying the company of the latest ranking. "Inc. recognizes the creativity, dedication and hard work that have gone into building LBA Group into what it is today and wishes you many more years of success."

Lawrence Behr, CEO of the company that he founded in 1963, says the company continues to explore new growth opportunities. "LBA has changed focus many times in its 46 years. Flexibility in pursuing business opportunities is essential to a small company. First-class service to customers never changes, however."

The national business publication began to track entrepreneurial growth in the country in 1991, first singling out the 100 fastest-growing firms before expanding the list the next year to the top 500. In 2007, the survey was broadened again to the fastest-growing 5,000 in recognition of all the entrepreneurial activity in the country.

The publication's 2009 rankings are based on each company's percentage of revenue growth from 2005 through 2008. LBA Group more than doubled its revenue during the period.
