Laplink® Software (http://www.laplink.com) today announced the hire of Christina Seelye as Senior Vice President - Market Development, who was selected to lead Laplink's renewed focus on consumer and SMB channels.
"Christina brings significant experience to Laplink which I anticipate will further increase our market leadership," said Thomas Koll, Laplink's CEO. "Although Laplink PCmover® has almost 100% market share in U.S. retail already, the migration category has substantial growth potential. In addition, we are bringing new consumer-focused products to retail over the next several months. Christina's leadership and direction will help us grow both PCmover and the migration category as well as successfully launch these new products."
Seelye previously was the founder and CEO of the software publisher Elibrium, Inc. and most recently served as CEO of Avanquest USA, following the sale of Elibrium to Avanquest Software (based in France and publicly traded on Euronext: ISIN FR0004026714).
"Nearly 100 million PCs running Windows® 7 will be sold to consumers and small businesses in North America alone over the next few years, creating a huge opportunity for PCmover," continued Koll. "We can save these users from 'new PC hell' by making sure all their data, settings, and programs are successfully transferred to their new PC, which will increase their productivity and satisfaction."
PCmover (http://www.laplink.com/pcmover) is the only software product that automatically moves files, settings, and applications from an old PC to a new one. The upcoming release of PCmover for Windows 7 also includes the ability to perform an in-place upgrade regardless of operating system, such as upgrading a PC from XP to Windows 7.
"PCmover is the only software of its kind," explained Randall Clark, Laplink's COO. "With PCmover, users can set up their new PC without having to find old CDs or serial numbers because PCmover moves and reinstalls programs on the new PC automatically no matter what version of Windows is on the old or new PC. No other software does this. Over the next couple of years, we want to be sure that 100 million users in North America learn how easy it is to use PCmover to set up their new PC. Christina is key to helping Laplink achieve this goal."
Microsoft's decision to not provide an upgrade path from XP to Windows 7 is another reason PCmover is forecasted to be in high demand. The newest version of PCmover for Windows 7 has a special feature that allows an in-place upgrade from XP to Windows 7 - on the same computer and with only a few simple steps. This functionality is unique to PCmover and will save consumers and businesses time and money - as well as providing the peace of mind of knowing that all programs, files and settings are preserved.
"I am excited about the possibilities for PCmover, which has tremendous potential," said Seelye. "It's a privilege to contribute to the success of a company with more than a quarter century's experience as a software leader. The market currently presents a number of promising growth opportunities, particularly related to Windows 7 PC migration, making this a very exciting time to join Laplink. And, Laplink is bringing other key technologies to market for consumers and small businesses. So while PCmover is the flagship, I expect to significantly expand our channel and retail presence over the next year with PCmover as well as other products."
"Christina is a perfect fit for Laplink," said Gordon Landies, CEO of GL Ventures, and past president of International Microcomputer Software, Incorporated (IMSI). "Christina's industry knowledge and global expertise in sales and business development bring significant value to the Laplink team. And as Laplink continues to produce leading edge software solutions that are without peer, I have every confidence in Christina's ability to both maintain Laplink's channel dominance and expand its reach."
