The downton Richmond Marriott has opened a full-service Starbucks and will unveil T-Miller's Sports Bar & Grill in the next week. The additions are part of a nearly completed $14-million renovation.

The full-service Marriott® in downtown Richmond is nearing completion of its $14 million overhaul. In the coming week, hotel guests and Richmonders alike will be able to enjoy the array of modern amenities at the newly renovated hotel, including the new Starbucks® and Richmond's newest upscale dining destination, T-Miller's Sports Bar & Grill.

The Richmond Marriott's lobby will be home to a full-service Starbucks, which will open on August 17, and feature a convenient entrance near the corner of Broad and 6th streets. (The new Starbucks replaces a coffee café that previously served select Starbucks coffees.)

T-Miller's Sports Bar & Grill (, whose name is a combination of venerable department stores Thalhimers and Miller & Rhoads, will open its doors on August 27. The three-meal-a-day sports bar strives to separate itself from the sports bar pack with higher-quality food and quick and friendly service in a stylish, contemporary and high-energy environment. Among the highlights:

  • T-Miller's features outdoor seating that overlooks Broad Street, with room for 50 people (space heaters and a fire pit will warm diners throughout the colder months)
  • Twenty-seven high-definition TVs, including a media wall that is made up of nine individual TVs
  • Comfortable tables and booths with built-in TVs, providing more than 200 seats inside and another 50 seats on the patio
  • A focus on Richmond's sports heroes and our local colleges and universities

"Starbucks and T-Miller's will cater to hotel guests and our neighbors in and around downtown Richmond as well as become a welcome addition for the city's ever-growing number of conventioneers," said Tom Underwood, general manager of the Richmond Marriott. "We're especially excited to offer patio seating along Broad Street at T-Miller's, which promises to be an affordable option for lunch or a gathering place before heading to a game or concert."

The Richmond Marriott, built in 1984, was purchased in early 2008 by Apple REIT Seven, Inc., a Richmond, Va.-based real estate investment trust, and is managed by White Lodging, one of the nation's premier operators of leading-brand hotels.
