East Hartford, CT (PRWEB) August 22, 2009 -
Travel Insured International (http://www.travelinsured.com) reminds parents sending their children back to school in upcoming days that now is also a good time to think ahead toward protecting your family's next planned vacation, especially if your getaway coincides with a recess on the school year calendar. Chances are better than ever, following the numerous disruptions from school snow days last year, and the anticipation of potential student flu outbreaks this year, for planned school year calendars to be unexpectedly disrupted. When school days must be made up in your school district, the makeup days may conflict with your planned, prepaid vacation dates.
How School Extension Coverage Works
Travel Insured International includes School Year Extension as a covered reason for Trip Cancellation in its flagship, comprehensive Worldwide Trip Protector Plan, as well as in Worldwide Trip Protector Gold Plan designed for luxury trips, and in Worldwide Trip Protector Lite Expanded, designed for family and budget-minded travelers. The coverage may apply whenever the primary or secondary school where either you or your dependant children attend must extend its operating sessions beyond the pre-defined school year. The extended school sessions must be due to unforeseen events that took place during the period when your insurance plan was in effect, and your scheduled travel dates must fall within the period of the school extension.
Kids Are Free Coverage
Enhancing the value of School Year Extension coverage is "Kids are Free," another great Travel Insured feature. Kids are Free is included with both the comprehensive Worldwide Trip Protector plan and Worldwide Trip Protector Lite Expanded. In Worldwide Trip Protector all kids under 18 receive free insurance when they are traveling with a related adult who is the primary insured on the same plan. In the WTP Lite Expanded plan, one child under 18 receives free insurance per related adult who is traveling with them as the primary insured on the same plan.
Remember that the kids need not be traveling with their parents on the trip for the School Year Extension coverage to still apply to their parents' covered vacation. The parent or parents' trip can be covered for Trip Cancellation, for example, when their vacation dates are disrupted because their children must attend extended school sessions from home rather than stay with relatives during the trip. Additionally, Trip Cancellation may apply if a serious illness, such as a flu outbreak, results in parents being unable to travel because children have taken sick and need their care at home.
With kids heading back to school, is there any reason not to protect your next vacation against the risks of an unforeseen school year extension?
