Affinity4, one of the nation's leading affinity-based marketers specializing in helping charities, ministries and other nonprofit organizations raise funds, recently completed a school supply drive on behalf of the Union Mission Ministries, a local Christian non-profit organization which operates shelters in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Affinity4 donated over $4,300 worth of school supplies which Union Mission will distribute to children in its Hope Haven Children's Home. Affinity4 hosted the drive in its Norfolk, Virginia offices from August 3rd through August 14th. Among the supplies were backpacks, dictionaries, thesauruses, lunchboxes, pencil boxes, scissors, binders and zippered pouches, rulers, protractors, pencils and sharpeners, pens, markers, composition books, folders, hand sanitizers, tissues and Ziploc bags.
To encourage a successful drive, Affinity4 create a team competition between members of its Marketing, Accounting, Products, Call Center and IT departments. The company established a point system, awarding different point values to various supplies collected, and even included a negative point value for composition books. In this way, competing teams could stock their competitors' bins with the composition books causing them to lose points, but the Union Mission would still get the needed supplies. The IT team won which earned its members a free lunch.
