Online Campaign Will Help Launch Company's Consumer MyClyns Product, the New Personal Germ Protection Spray

Robin Leedy & Associates (RL&A), a boutique 23-year-old public relations and social media agency specializing in national brand OTC health and beauty products, recently signed an agreement to conduct a 12-month social media campaign for Union Springs Pharmaceuticals of Union, Kentucky.

The online campaign will be part of an integrated marketing initiative to help launch MyClyns® personal germ protection spray to consumers this fall.

"Robin Leedy & Associates has extremely strong expertise in over-the-counter (OTC) health and personal care brands, which was critical to us when choosing our social media partner for the MyClyns® consumer launch," says Steve Couture, vice president of Union Springs. "They understand this healthcare category and can translate their knowledge into the social media arena, where they have proven strength in communicating directly with targeted consumers."

RL&A started its social media division, ChatteRL&A, in 2007, at a time when online PR was more of a buzz than a "practice," says Robin Russo, president of RL&A. "We were actually doing online outreach since the late 90s, conducting Web site chats and other tactics to help drive traffic to clients' sites. However, as Facebook and other social media portals became increasingly mainstream and utilized by more than just 18-24 year-olds, we began integrating them into our strategy for many of our clients," she says. In 2007, the agency formally launched its social media division, ChatteRL&A, now headed by Christian Brucculeri, who came from a digital background and brought with him a new perspective for integrating online tools and tactics with the traditional PR.

Today, she adds, the majority of RL&A's client programs include social media tactics. "Social media clearly falls under the PR umbrella, where the messages are developed and managed through engaging digital tools. It's no longer an option for companies to be in this space - they already are, organically. It's just up to us in PR to create, manage and direct the online chatter and turn it into something positive for a brand."

RL&A's social media program for MyClyns® includes social networking, such as Facebook and Twitter, blogger outreach and video development and distribution.
