Finding that perfect toy for a child is challenging. Kids love to make things. And kids love lights--just think about the look at their faces when the Christmas tree is lit. Laser Pegs is the only toy that combines a child's two fascinations--lights and construction. The first lighted construction set is the creation of Florida inventor Jon Capriola.
"I thought of the idea when I saw those necklaces' that light up and have a logo on them, Capriola said. "I said immediately to myself those would be cool if they came in a variety of shapes and interacted with each other giving each piece power from the next. Little did I know that years later I would be making this a reality."
With Laser Pegs™, kids can build from premade models or purchase the 72-piece kit and create their own ideas. Kits include a manual to build dune buggies, mini bugs, monster bugs, tractors, hang gliders and even starship cruisers.
"With the 3 in 1, 72-piece kit, kids can build anything from monster bugs to yard mowers," Capriola said. "It's really simple. Each piece feeds a low voltage current and once a peg is connected to a power source, it illuminates any other peg it connects. But you can use the pegs lit up or turned off."
Each piece has an LED with a resistor and the connections are wired to perfectly fit into the next piece. The kits include three triple A batteries or parents can purchase an AC adaptor. The Laser Pegs™ are ASTM approved.
"I come from a generation that played with LiteBrite and Legos," Capriola said. "Laser Pegs combines these two great toys into one spectacular toy and allows the entire family to create together."
