Andrew Seybold Announces Wireless University Program for October 6; Coincides with CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment Convention

The Fall session of the Andrew Seybold Wireless University, in its 15th year as an Official Show Partner at International CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment, will take place at the San Diego Convention Center, Room 29C, in San Diego, Calif., it was announced today by Andrew M. The Fall session of the Andrew Seybold Wireless University, in its 15th year as an Official Show Partner at International CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment, will take place at the San Diego Convention Center, Room 29C, in San Diego, Calif., it was announced today by Andrew M. Seybold, CEO and Principal Analyst, Andrew Seybold, Inc. (ASI).

Andrew Seybold, a highly regarded pioneer wireless industry analyst and acknowledged expert, has structured a day-long program that starts with a foundation in wireless basics and builds out with examinations of current and emerging applications and technology. He and ASI Partner Barney Dewey will explore the issues, the trends, how IP plays in wireless, and the convergence that will blur future boundaries. Both are renowned for their straightforward, no holds-barred approach, plain language presentations, and engaging styles.

Seybold and Dewey will explore the current status of spectrum allocations, LTE, WiMAX, Wi-Fi, TV White Space and device OS wars; look into the future of applications, content and technologies, focusing on what will fuel demand for services beyond voice; define and clarify issues surrounding bandwidth, open access, location-based services integration and personal privacy; and examine the two Internets, the impact Internet companies are exerting on wireless firms and changing business models.

"Things get really interesting when we get into the two Internets and the impact Internet ventures are having on wireless companies, especially when it comes to 'free' and 'open' access over unlicensed spectrum," Seybold said. "This is something that every wireless-related company must consider."

The afternoon program will focus on the future of applications, content and related technologies, and will feature Andrew Seybold's MobileApp Challenge, providing a unique look into the future of blended services, data and applications. ASI Partner Bob Hirsh will offer attendees an up-close look into how some of today's most innovative thinkers are creating and deploying new mobile services that distance themselves from the rest of the field as Finalists provide short demonstrations. Attendees select the winner.

Andrew Seybold Invites Mobile Application Developers to Compete for Valuable Industry Recognition and a Once-in-a-Lifetime Prize.

"We're looking for the most innovative mobile services applications, regardless of platform or network," Seybold said. "Applications that require users to invoke a browser are not eligible, though a browser may be used by the application in the background."

Four- to five Finalists will be selected from the submissions and invited to present four-minute demonstrations. One Finalist will win an opportunity to be a passenger on a flight with one of the top aerobatic pilots in the United States. All of the Finalists will receive a package of unique opportunities to raise awareness of their company and application, including three seats at the exclusive, invitation-only Andrew Seybold Wireless Dinner in the spring.
