We sat down to look at our sales for the week and noticed a surprising sales trend: people were buying Obama masks and Joker makeup kits at the same time.

Continuing buzz over a fake Time Magazine cover has taken an unexpected turn as online costume retailer BrandsOnSale.com discovered this week.
"We thought these were last year's items, but I guess our customers felt otherwise," said a BrandsOnSale.com spokesperson, "We sat down to look at our sales for the week and noticed a surprising sales trend: people were buying Obama masks and Joker makeup kits at the same time."
It can only be assumed these two items are being used to imitate the recent mash up of Joker and Obama imagery of recent weeks and possibly being worn to the town-hall meetings in protest.
This isn't the first time politics and pop culture have combined as seen in last year's popular Palin bikini photo and the costume that followed. With concerns over the President's healthcare proposal and the media frenzy surrounding the "Jokerbama" posters increasing this sales trend proved welcome if unexpected. When pressed for an opinion on the political effigy BrandsOnSale.com only commented, "We sell costumes, not politics. People can buy any combination they want." Regardless of opinion one thing is certain: politics and pop culture will always go hand in hand.
