Homeowners will benefit from an innovation contest planned by DaVinci Quest to demonstrate technologies that can make a house greener, safer and smarter. http://www.davinciquest.com
Homeowners considering renovations to improve their homes are faced with information overload that is difficult to understand and even more difficult to apply. With the dramatic increase in products and services regarding energy conservation/production and communications, this challenge even overwhelms contractors working in this space.
DaVinci Quest expects 50 teams to compete in its contest for a significant cash prize. The winner will be the team that comes closest to achieving the contest criteria. The criteria will include reduction of energy and water consumption, energy production, energy storage, and reduction of waste managed through a home command, control and communications system linked to local safety departments as well as providers of communications, information and energy services.
The contest will be held in one of several communities that have created special financing for environmental renovations. It is projected that the contest will run for three months in the summer of 2010.
DaVinci Quest is currently completing design of the contest, selecting the contest site and recruiting teams and sponsors.
To kick off the contest, DaVinci Quest will hold a video competition for the best video that depicts the house of the future as an intelligent node in a community system.
An invitation is extended to the public to join DaVinci Quest in this effort by becoming a member of its international community.
