Global education, technology and assessment company Pearson today announced new enhancements to the Millon™ Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III) test, including new combined gender norms and an added validity scale. Used by psychologists in clinical, counseling, medical and forensic settings, the MCMI-III assesses individuals for emotional, behavioral or interpersonal difficulties.

"Pearson's latest upgrades to the MCMI-III, which are based on a large nationally representative sample with a wide variety of diagnoses, will help ensure impartial gender evaluation," said Dr. John Kamp, senior research director for Pearson's Clinical Assessment group. "These updates are especially useful when the test is used for forensic evaluations."

Another enhancement to the test is the addition of a new response inconsistency scale. "The inconsistency scale strengthens the test, working together with the existing validity index to appreciably improve the ability of the instrument to detect random responding," added Kamp.

As one of the most well-researched measures of adult psychopathology available today, the MCMI-III test offers targeted support for differential diagnosis and personality-guided therapy, helping psychologists to quickly and accurately assess DSM-IV®-related personality disorders and clinical syndromes.

"To better meet the needs of our customers in the field, Pearson has updated the MCMI-III to match current trends in psychology. By using customer feedback in our upgrade process, we can best understand what is most important to practicing psychologists and enhance the quality and accuracy of the assessment results," said Carol Watson, president of Pearson's Clinical Assessment group.
