TRS (OaKbrook Terrace) cites a report referring to transferable skills, that says 71% of workers who were laid off said they are looking for jobs outside of their chosen profession.

TRS Oakbrook Terrace has been researching several elements of job trends.

A spokesperson for the career firm says that the key to landing a job in today's job market is the ability to demonstrate transferable skills. With competition so high it is easier to demonstrate how one's skills can transcend industries. Another important factor in being effective is to demonstrate your ability to wear multiple hats. With companies downsizing or placing new hiring on hold, your ability to manage multiple aspects of a business can be of great value.

TRS cites a report from Career Builder (referring to transferable skills) that says 71% of workers who were laid off said they are looking for jobs outside of their chosen profession.

According to this same report 23% of employers surveyed say that they will be using this situation to upgrade lower performing employees. Knowing this means that talented, experienced job seekers still have a chance in the fight for employment.

TRS (Oakbrook Terrace) recommends that job seekers not familiar with marketing themselves to alternative industries seek the assistance of a professional who can work with them to make a transition.
