Ninth annual HomeAid Colorado fashion show raises money for state's homeless

HomeAid Colorado, a non-profit organization that builds quality homes for the temporarily homeless, is hosting its 9th annual fashion show fundraiser Sept. 18, 6-9 p.m. at the Curtis Hotel in downtown Denver. All proceeds from the event will go towards HomeAid Colorado's ongoing projects, which include projects for homeless female veterans, homeless families and a program for at-risk girls.

For this year's event guests are invited to wear their favorite styles from the 1970s, while models groove down the runway in both vintage and contemporary threads inspired by the era of disco and soul. The "Best Dressed" attendee will receive a prize. The event's DJ will spin groovy tunes while guests watch models strut down the runway and enjoy '70s signature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Fashion show attendees will also have the chance to bid in silent and live auctions.

"We are excited to add a new twist to our popular annual fashion show, inviting attendees to show their '70s spirit and help support a worthy cause--homelessness. To date, HomeAid Colorado has provided more than 200 of beds for the temporarily homeless in the state, and the funds raised during our annual fashion show fundraiser help us continue these efforts," said Laura Brayman, executive director of HomeAid Colorado. "We're particularly grateful to the Colorado Homebuilders Association and Comcast for their support as the gold sponsors for the show and for their continued commitment to HomeAid's mission over the years."

Popular radio and TV personalities Denise Plant (KUSA's Colorado & Company) and Murphy Houston, of the "Murphy & Denise Morning Show" on KOSI 101.1, will announce this year's show. Models, some of whom are shelter recipients, will be wearing clothing and accessories from the "feel good decade" provided by local stores including American Apparel, American Eagle, Buffalo Exchange, Gnat Jewelry, Gap, Loft 22, Tsagas Furs and Violet.

Other sponsors of HomeAid Colorado's 2009 fashion show include Land Title Guarantee Company, Carter Development, Lowe Enterprises, McDermott Properties, LLC and WEB2LIFE.
