A search has been launched today to find 10 talented TV hopefuls to star in a major television advertising campaign to promote mobile phone recycling.
Budding actors will battle it out for a spot in a fast-paced commercial, which will air in early 2010. It aims to highlight the important role that customers play in helping to protect the environment.
The campaign - to find young, interesting individuals, who have a burning desire to see themselves star in the new commercial - is being launched by online mobile phone recycling site, Envirofone.
There's no age restriction and no acting credentials are required, but all entrants must either be current Envirofone customers or demonstrate to the audition panel their support for recycling and reuse in today's environment.
Julie Graves, head of marketing at Envirofone, which offers customers cash in return for old mobiles, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for our customers to showcase their desire to help the planet, get really involved in what we do and also get their five minutes of fame. You never know…it could be the start of a fabulous career in TV!"
The fresh, new advert follows hot on the heels of an extremely successful campaign across terrestrial and digital television channels, as well as online.
Jon Butler, creative & brand manager at Envirofone, added: "More details of the online TV audition will be launched via our website, Twitter and YouTube pages. Applicants will be asked to upload a three minute video response to our YouTube page of their vid-cast / audition, which will showcase both their acting talents and green credentials.
"Just search for 'Envirofone TV Auditions 2009' on YouTube to find us. We will then select 30 people for the final auditions to be held in London later this year. We're also interested in hearing from budding musicians or producers who want to have a crack at creating the music to accompany the advert. They can email music files to email@example.com or visit the website for more info."
The commercial, which will be made later this year, will be in a similar style to Envirofone's VoxPops TV advert which is now on air during the popular Big Brother slot on Channel 4, X-Factor on ITV1 and numerous digital channels.
Envirofone was launched in 2005 to provide real value to customers by recycling their electronic devices. It has paid out over £28 million to its customers and has over 1 million customers. Recycling mobile phones helps protect the environment from contaminated and harmful toxins found in mobile phones and accessories. This is in accordance with the Government's WEEE Directive (Waste Electronic & Electrical Equipment).
