San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 1, 2009
Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue is preparing for its largest fundraiser of the year. The fourth annual "Ten Lives" event will take place on 09/27/09 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Miraloma Park clubhouse located at 350 O'Shaughnessy (at Del Vale Avenue), San Francisco. Admission fee is $30.00 and includes all you can eat food, wine and beer as well as free parking. This year's fundraiser has the potential to be one of the best ever hosted by Give Me Shelter (http://www.givemesheltersf.org/).
The "Ten Lives" event has always been a successful fundraiser for Give Me Shelter and is very popular among its supporters. All funds raised allow Give Me Shelter to pay for the many expenses involved in re-homing abandoned or unwanted cats in the San Francisco Bay Area. Food, medication, veterinary care, and litter are just a few of these expenses.
The fundraiser always offers a myriad of gourmet wines and food; however, this year Give Me Shelter is very excited to be able to provide the opportunity for guests to win a raffle trip for two to Costa Rica. Airfare and meals are included. The winner of the trip will be announced at the event. Details about the trip and how to purchase raffle tickets can be found at the Give Me Shelter website at http://www.givemesheltersf.org/.
As always, the ever popular silent auction will be held, and guests will have the opportunity to bid on items such as an IPod, Disneyland passes, Spa Radiance gift certificate and much more. The auction will have a wider variety of items to bid on this year compared to previous years.
Guests will also be treated to live music performed by Edna Love. Dubbed the "Soul of San Francisco," Ms. Love is known for her slow-burning blues and classic R&B style. Edna moved to San Francisco from the East Coast in the '70s and quickly established herself in the local music scene. She has fronted various groups including The Love Toys, Passion, The Fat Tuesday Band, and the Robbie MacGregor Band. Visit Edna's website at http://www.myspace.com/ednalove1 to hear a sample of her songs and to view videos of some of her performances.
Even though the purpose of the event is to raise money to support Give Me Shelter's service to the community, it ends up being a fun social gathering for all. Johanna Morales, the event coordinator, says "There are many people who show up every year just for the food, wine and socializing. It's like an annual party to them." Not only do people get a chance to mix, mingle and enjoy epicurean delights, but everyone walks away a winner. Whether they participate in the raffle, bid in the auction, or just come for fun, they leave knowing they made a difference by supporting a worthy and humane cause.
The 09/27/09 "Ten Lives" fundraiser is a must for cat lovers and animal lovers alike, and this year it promises to surpass all previous events in fun and funds raised.
