Sennheiser announces new line of home audio headphones based on Kleer's wireless audio technology

We're very pleased that Sennheiser has chosen to expand their line of Kleer-based products with the release of the RS 160, RS 170, and RS 180 wireless headphones

Kleer today announced a rapidly expanding presence of Kleer wireless audio technology in the home audio market. Building on the success of the KLR3012 wireless audio module in the portable audio market where low power consumption, small form factor, and best-in-class ISM band coexistence are critical, Kleer is capitalizing on its high quality audio, whole home coverage, low latency, and point-to-multipoint connectivity in the home audio market. Today's announcement from Sennheiser of a new line of Kleer-based home audio headphones for music, TV, and home theater marks the first in a series of home audio product announcements for 2009 from several well-known brands.

"We're very pleased that Sennheiser has chosen to expand their line of Kleer-based products with the release of the RS 160, RS 170, and RS 180 wireless headphones," said Steven Humphreys, President & CEO at Kleer. "The Sennheiser headphones use the same Kleer wireless technology as the Sennheiser MX W1 earphones introduced last year, demonstrating that Kleer's technology has the attributes to address both portable audio products and home audio products."

"For our new RS wireless headphones we have once again chosen Kleer wireless audio technology," says Maurice Quarré, Head of Product Management Consumer Electronics at Sennheiser. "When it comes to sound quality we are always looking for the perfect solution. With Kleer's digital radio transmission, which works without compression and therefore without any loss of audio quality, we can offer our customers wireless earphones without compromising the outstanding Sennheiser sound."

Kleer has introduced new features to support multiple simultaneous audio streams in a home environment where there may be multiple distributed audio sources and multiple headphones and speakers. With virtually zero differential latency in its point-to-multipoint configuration, Kleer enables zoned audio systems with no echo when speakers in different rooms are playing the same music stream. Furthermore, Kleer is reducing absolute audio latency to 25msec, supporting new home theater and stereo/surround speaker products that will be introduced in 2009.

Because Kleer guarantees full interoperability between Kleer-based home audio and Kleer-based portable audio products regardless of brand or manufacturer, consumers will be able to mix and match Kleer-based wireless products in the home or on the go. For example, they can use Kleer-based portable audio earbuds purchased for their portable audio player (such as an iPod) to listen to TV, or transmit music from their portable audio player to their home stereo system, wireless speakers or high quality wireless home audio headphones such as the Sennheiser RS series.

Kleer is attending IFA 2009 in Berlin, Germany from September 4-9. Please contact Kleer at sales@kleer.com to arrange a meeting or to discuss your future wireless home audio product.
