It's harvest time for farmers and vintners, time to reap the bounty of another year's effort. But the past few seasons have been unbelievably tough for too many people, more about shrinking rather than growing.
And critical charity organizations that serve the neediest and hardest-hit are seeing their resources shrink like never before. So this September, Il Fornaio is renewing its dedication to giving back to those who need it most, in our communities, nationally and around the world.
Starting with their monthly Festa Regionale celebration that begins September 7th, all 20 Il Fornaio restaurants will be spotlighting the food and wine of Abruzzo, the region that was devastated earlier this year by a massive earthquake.
To help those still trying to pick up the pieces, Il Fornaio will be donating 10% of the profits from the entire regional menu from Monday September 7th through Sunday September 20th to the Italian Red Cross Abruzzo Earthquake Relief Fund. Enjoy this special menu created by Abruzzo native Giuseppe Naccarelli, and you'll help rebuild this special region.
Following Abruzzo, Il Fornaio will be participating in Share Our Strength's "Great American Dine Out". Il Fornaio will be donating a portion of the profits from Sunday September 20 through September 26th to help combat childhood hunger here in the US.
Focusing on our neighborhood, Il Fornaio in Seattle is thrilled to again be participating in FareStart's Guest Chef Night on Thursday, September 24 from 6-8 PM at their restaurant. Chef-Partner Franz Junga and the FareStart students will prepare a wonderful three-course Italian meal. All proceeds from the evening go directly back into the program to support the FareStart job training and placement programs for homeless and disadvantaged individuals in Seattle.
