RightScale®, Inc., a leader in cloud computing management, unveiled a technology preview of the RightScale Cloud Management Platform's support for the VMware vCloud™ Express service at VMworld 2009 today. With RightScale and the VMware vCloud ecosystem, developers and VMware customers will be able to quickly deploy to and easily manage across multiple clouds through one consistent, easy-to-use platform. By leveraging the VMware vCloud API, RightScale's integration with VMware vCloud Express underscores its commitment to supporting a wide range of cloud infrastructures to give RightScale users maximum flexibility and portability in their cloud deployments.

"The VMware vCloud™ initiative is delivering exciting new integrated cloud solutions - from one of the industry's largest and most respected vendors and its broad range of service provider partners," said Michael Crandell, RightScale CEO. "RightScale's early, demonstrable integration with the VMware vCloud API is an indication of our strong support for the VMware vCloud initiative as well as our continuing commitment to a multi-cloud strategy. Our goal is to simplify deployment, automate management and provide a simple, consistent interface that preserves cloud flexibility and portability for all cloud applications, regardless of the cloud infrastructure used."

VMware enables businesses to transform their IT infrastructure into internal clouds by allowing them to easily augment datacenter capabilities to provide capacity on demand. It also facilitates federation between internal and external clouds, giving users the freedom to move their business applications where they want and when they want. The VMware vCloud initiative extends this vision by enabling a broad cloud provider ecosystem, with both developer-focused and enterprise-class cloud offerings, all leveraging the reliable VMware platform.

With the RightScale Cloud Management Platform, developers and IT administrators can reduce the complexity of their cloud deployments and launch business-critical applications in a matter of hours, using RightScale's best practices methodology, without the risk of lock-in. They can manage all their cloud deployments - whether it's an internal or an external cloud - through one easy-to-use interface.

"RightScale delivers a proven solution designed to make cloud computing as easy as possible," said Dan Chu, vice president of emerging business, VMware. "With RightScale, developers and IT administrators have access to a sophisticated cloud management platform, and we're pleased to include RightScale as an important part of the VMware vCloud™ ecosystem."

RightScale is demonstrating VMware vCloud Express integration on the RightScale Cloud Management Platform in the VMware vCloud Pavilion at VMworld 2009, today through Sept. 3.
