Epsilen Announces Single Sign-On Integration with Moodle Course Management System

Moodle users can now enhance the teaching and learning experience with next-generation ePortfolio and social networking capability. Moodle users can now automatically create an Epsilen account from within the Moodle course management system and seamlessly log in to Epsilen without entering a username and password.

Epsilen, a leading developer of eLearning systems for institutions of higher education, announced today that its innovative eLearning modules, Epsilen ePortfolio and Epsilen Global Networking, can now be seamlessly integrated with Moodle, the popular open source course management system, through a single sign-on.

"Moodle users can now cost-effectively create an ePortfolio to showcase their lifelong learning accomplishments and collaborate using our powerful social networking tools—all directly from Moodle."

Moodle users can now automatically create an Epsilen account from within Moodle and seamlessly log in to Epsilen without entering a username and password. They can then access Epsilen by simply clicking the My Epsilen Portal tab. Also, when Moodle users who already have an Epsilen account log in to Epsilen, the two accounts are now automatically paired, allowing them to use the single sign-on in the future.

Moodle users can now create and showcase a wide range of multimedia artifacts, course-created materials, blogs, discussions and wikis in their ePortfolio for presentation to classmates, assessors, and future employers. Since Epsilen users enjoy lifelong access to their ePortfolio materials, students can take their complete ePortfolio with them upon graduation and add to it indefinitely during further education and throughout their career.

Moodle users can select privacy options to let peers, assessors, and outside reviewers view different sections of their ePortfolio as appropriate, and institutions can use student ePortfolios to document longitudinal progress and assess student work at the course, department, program, or institution level. A searchable directory of members and artifacts supports interdisciplinary projects across the miles in an unlimited number of associations, workgroups, and communities.

Moodle users can also use the sophisticated Epsilen social networking tools to facilitate new approaches to teaching and learning and support the collaboration skills students need in today’s knowledge-based economy. Because Epsilen products were designed from the start to include social networking, the Epsilen blogs, wikis, drop boxes, message boards, and discussion forums are fully integrated into Epsilen ePortfolio and thus more cost-effective than separate purchases from multiple vendors. Epsilen operates as a Software as a Service (SaaS) model.
