Zurado Offers New URL for Downloading its PXT Technology Directly onto Mobile Phones and Devices

Over-the-air downloads provide consumers with immediate access to PXT technology.

Pleasanton, CA (PRWEB) September 3, 2009 -- Zurado Systems announced today mobile.zurado.com, a new URL that enables Windows Mobile users to download its PXT wireless information technology directly onto their mobile phones and devices.

PXT, which stands for Please eXplain That, is a proximity-based information system for getting information about all kinds of nearby objects. Two major components of Zurado's technology are the PXT Probe and PXT Portal, which are geared for the information consumer and information supplier, respectively. Information consumers use PXT Probe to retrieve and store multimedia content about nearby people, places, and things, and information suppliers use PXT Portal to create and deliver the multimedia content. Information consumers (PXT Probe's) and suppliers (PXT Portal's) communicate directly with each other using Bluetooth and without involving the internet, GPS, and the carrier network. PXT offnet technology is fast, simple, reliable, and inexpensive to operate.

PXT Portal can be used at museums, hospitals, retail stores, restaurants, historical landmarks, cemeteries, parks and trails, on walking tours, school campuses, in office buildings and in any number of other commercial and public settings. And because PXT Portal software can run on mobile phones, it can also be used in a variety of social and business settings by individuals wishing to broadcast personal and professional content to those in their immediate vicinity.

A commercial or public site that operates a PXT Portal is typically identified by a special PXT decal or placard that is displayed in a prominent spot near its entrance and often throughout its interior. Until today, however, consumers who saw the PXT sign but did not already have PXT Probe installed on their mobile phones could not immediately benefit from the technology because there was no convenient mechanism for downloading the software on-the-spot. Downloading PXT software was a two-step process: the first step was to download PXT from www.zurado.com to the desktop, and the second step was to use Microsoft's ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) to sideload the package from the desktop to the device via Bluetooth or a USB cable.

With today's announcement, prospective PXT users can now download PXT Probe and PXT Portal software directly to any web-enabled Windows Mobile device. This means, for instance, that a tradeshow visitor who finds that exhibitors are using PXT Portal to deliver sales, marketing, and contact information can now download PXT Probe software on-the-spot and immediately begin accessing and storing information of interest. The same goes for the museumgoer or the window shopper who encounters PXT Portal for the first time.

To use the new capability users should open their mobile browsers, enter the URL: mobile.zurado.com, and click Download PXT Probe Software or Download PXT Portal Software.

Beta versions of PXT Probe and PXT Portal software for Windows Mobile devices are available from Zurado Systems at no charge.
