Leading companies recognize the increasing need for trained statisticians who can master statistical tools and applications. The online master of applied statistics program, offered through the Penn State World Campus, is designed to help meet this demand and prepare statisticians for these new opportunities.
According to Mosuk Chow, lead faculty member for the online master of applied statistics, a thorough understanding of statistics is now a prerequisite for most businesses and industries.
“In this new information age, the need for professionals to acquire and use the sophisticated tools and knowledge to handle and analyze data is increasing,” Chow said. “Statistical analysis has become an indispensable component of many industries.”
The online master of applied statistics offers professionals access to quality, flexible online education from Penn State, a leader in statistics education. The online statistics program develops skills in utilizing Minitab and SAS software, technology that has become standard in the industry.
Mosuk Chow, the program director of the M.A.S. program, said the online program builds on a tradition of excellence in statistics education and training at Penn State. “We have offered the master of applied statistics program at Penn State’s University Park campus since 2001 and produced graduates highly sought after by government agencies and industries,” said Chow. “In order to reach out to professionals who want to have a rigorous training in Applied Statistics but who cannot attend conventional classes, we now offer the same program through the online environment via the World Campus of Penn State.”
