Making sense of the complex issues the G-20 will tackle at their summit in Pittsburgh this month will be made a little easier, thanks to a series of YouTube videos featuring Penn State educators. The list of challenges the G-20 faces is daunting: the global economic crisis, sustainable development, terrorist financing and climate change, among others. To help the public make sense of the Sept. 24–25th summit, six Penn State experts provide their insights in a series of brief (less than three minutes long) videos to be released by Penn State Outreach daily at http://www.youtube.com/user/pennstateoutreach
The schedule is as follows.
Tues., Sept 1: International Conflict Resolution, featuring Scott Bennett, Jr., Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Penn State.
Wed., Sept. 2: Our Interdependent Economy, featuring Fariborz Ghadar, director of Penn State’s Center for Global Business Studies.
Thurs., Sept. 3: Europe on the Global Stage, Pennsylvania’s Role: featuring Terrence Guay, clinical associate professor in Penn State’s Smeal College of Business.
Tues., Sept 15: G-20: A Magnet for Social Activism and Protest, featuring John McCarthy, professor of sociology from the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State.
Wed., Sept. 16: Placing Ethics and Integrity in G-20’s Core Mission, featuring Nancy Tuana, director of Penn State’s Rock Ethics Institute.
Thurs., Sept. 17: G-20’s Host: The City of Pittsburgh, featuring Deno DeCiantis, director of The Penn State Center: Engaging Pittsburgh.
Downloads of raw interview videos are available to professional journalists from a password protected site, upon request.
