Using a variety of media both off line and online Web 2.0 advertising vehicles, NAS Recruitment Communications has developed a highly successful solution for challenging recruiting needs at the Wyoming Department of Corrections.

With a new facility being built and opening in early 2010, NAS partnered with the state and was charged with assisting in filling over 500 open positions in a rural western setting. Historically in order to fill openings, the DOC developed a schedule of 'road show' mini job fairs wherein the recruiting team at WDOC traveled around the nation promoting the lifestyle of Wyoming and the career opportunities with the WDOC.

In order to supplement these efforts, and because of the red tape that can sometimes be involved in changing a governmental site, the use of a splash page incorporating the successful .jobs domain (http://www.wdoc.jobs) was recommended as a best practice in building an online presence. The splash page included a custom produced video that NAS coordinated and highlighted a true day in the life at working for the organization.

In order to provide additional traffic, we also included an outreach onto Twitter, YouTube, local websites and niche job boards.

As a progressive thought leader in this space, the WDOC has also embraced the NAS recommendations for technology. Using a candidate relationship management (CRM) solution as well as online employee climate and exit surveys have also added to the improvement of internal processes.
