Kemin Industries Announces the Opening of Kemin Hope School

Kemin celebrates the opening of Kemin Hope School in Chengdu, China after the company raised money to rebuild the school that was devastated by the 2008 earthquake.

In addition to serving the needs of Kemin customers in China, we feel it is equally important to support the local communities in which we conduct business.

Kemin Industries Inc., a leading animal health and nutritional ingredient manufacturer, announces the opening of Hope School in Chengdu, China.

The school, re-named Kemin Hope School is a two-story building with six classrooms, one multifunctional room and one office that will accommodate more than 300 students and 10 teachers. The school is located in the Qin Chang Village of Ming Shan County in Sichuan Province, an area that was devastated by the 2008 earthquake.

Following the earthquake, Kemin officials announced the company would collect and match employee donations that would be used to help rebuild the earthquake-hit area. In July 2008, Kemin donated the money collected to rebuild Hope School.

“We are extremely pleased to be reopening the Hope School,” said Mr. R.W. Nelson, founder and chairman of Kemin Industries Inc. “In addition to serving the needs of Kemin customers in China, we feel it is equally important to support the local communities in which we conduct business.”

President of Kemin China, Zhilin Gan, as well as R.W. Nelson, Mary Nelson and local government officials gathered with students and teachers of the Kemin Hope School at an opening ceremony yesterday to commemorate the rebuilding of Hope School. During the ceremony, RW Nelson shared his hopes for the future success of Hope School and its graduates. Mr. Nelson also presented six computers to the school which will be utilized for a computer literacy program.

Kemin Hope School reopened its doors to students and teachers in May 2009. On behalf of Hope School, Mr. Wang thanked Kemin for its support in rebuilding the school and acknowledged how the new school would benefit generations to come.
