Computer Lab International (CLI), the thin client customization specialists, today announced the introduction IA7100x desktop appliance. The IA7100x is the next release in the Intel Atom product family for CLI, rounding out a flexible product line that includes an all-in-one unit, a mobile solution, and now, a stand-alone desktop device.
Based off of the Intel Atom N270 chipset, the IA7100x delivers the performance of the dual core 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, with a standard 1GB Flash, 1GB RAM (scalable to 2GB RAM) memory configuration. The IA7100x also includes native support for dual monitors, via one VGA and one DVI-D interface. Dual 10/100/1000 NICS are also standard, providing the ability to join a single device concurrently to two separate networks. Additionally, the user has the capability to add internal wireless, and/or an internal smart card reader to round out the solution.
"The inception of the IA7100 was based off of a couple of unique use cases from our customer base," explains Jason McGeough, Director of Product Development for CLI. "We have multiple situations where customers were requesting top of the line client hardware capabilities, combined with the ability to leverage a single device across separate physical networks."
The IA7100x gives a new degree of flexibility to the CLI product portfolio by delivering support for multiple storage options, combining the ability to use stateless media with traditional hard drive options. PCI cards can also be supported by the IA7100x via a PCI sidecar option that offers a secure, integrated peripheral option for the user. An internal power supply is standard, with options for both internal wireless and an internal smart card reader.
Windows Embedded Standard operating system is the standard OS on the IA7100x, with an option for Windows XP embedded SP2 or SP3. Windows Embedded Standard will provide support for most Win32 client applications, and is a fully managed solution when combined with CLI's management software suite. VMware and Citrix clients are delivered as a standard, as is CLI's TermPro Terminal emulation suite.
"Our customer base has once again spoken, and we have reacted to provide the solution they were looking for," says Thomas Fei, President of CLI. "It is 5 times cheaper to maintain an existing customer, than to deliver a new one. Once we have a partnership with a customer, we will continue to incorporate their feedback into our product portfolio, while delivering the best in class support that CLI is known for. We value our customer, which is truly one of our differentiators."
