Boomer Authority™, the professional networking community for professionals and organizations that specialize in the 50+ active aging, Baby Boomer demographic topped the 400 member mark in August, announced its creator and founder Martin Diano.

"We are delighted to have so many distinguished men and women actively participating ─networking, posting their events listing their books for purchase, and blogging about important issues affecting the Baby Boomer generation," said Diano.

Launched in April 2009, Boomer Authority™ members include nationally recognized professionals from many different and diverse areas of expertise such as health & wellness, finance & investment, eldercare & elder law, retirement communities and Boomer lifestyles. Its membership also includes key executives from Boomer-specific portals including Grand Magazine, The Senior List, National Association of Baby Boomer Women, Boomers Abroad and Boomer Opinion.

The value of Boomer Authority™ also extends to the advertising community, with numerous veteran advertising executives specializing in "mature marketing" counted among its membership. And with valid reason: according to one estimate, people over 50 control more than half of all discretionary income in the United States alone and spend $2 trillion annually.

The first initiative of Boomer Authority™ was @BoomerAuthority. The value proposition is to use Twitter as a tool to connect Baby Boomers, in real time, to its membership to obtain timely advice when they need it most. Diano said the concept is remarkably simple: "Use Twitter as a communications tool to improve the relationship between professionals and organizations, and the Baby Boomer consumers they are trying to reach."

The free service marks a fundamental shift in the way marketers of products and professionals selling services reach the baby boomer consumer, from one-way communication to one of listening and individual response. "At its most basic," said Diano, "@BoomerAuthority is an 'ask the expert program,' which places professionals in a two-way conversation with a potential buyer/client."

Diano's latest initiative to make Boomer Authority™ a launching platform for its members to extend and expand their brand, increase traffic to their blog or website and generate more incremental revenue possibilities, is an exclusive agreement announced today with Navigate Boomer Media, a marketing and online advertising rep firm. Members of Boomer Authority™ that publish a web site, blog, social networking community and/or host a radio show are able to opt-in to have Navigate Boomer Media sell advertising on their behalf. Diano said it is the world's largest Boomer-specific publishers' ad network reaching an estimated 2 million boomers.
